A Special Door: A Review on Ken Ham’s Book

a-special-doorMy family and I really enjoy reading prophecy in the Old Testament and finding how it is fulfilled in the New. Each year for Advent we dive into how Jesus is foretold through shadows of the past written by our forefathers and prophets of old.

We find a simple yet meaningful story in Ken Ham’s book A Special Door.  It is a sweet children’s book about the gospel presented in a way that shows obedience on the part of Noah, and fulfillment because of the Lord’s faithfulness. We dive into bright illustrations, fun lift-the flap sections, and a complete overview on how all people are welcomed into the kingdom when they are obedient to God through repentance and belief in Jesus.

At the end of the book you will find a discussion prompt for you and your child about how they may become a child of God. There are questions with follow on Scripture references. This provides a great tool to engage young children to start thinking about salvation and what it means to follow Jesus.

1 John 3:1  See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.

This is a recommended read for families with young children or to have on hand in a Sunday school environment. You will find this book at MasterBooks along with other children’s books, apologetics, and curriculum.
